About intelligent design

What is intelligent design?

It is the proposition that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, rather than solely by undirected processes. Learn more on our introduction to intelligent design.

Does intelligent design reject science?

No. It draws on biology, genetics, and biochemistry and asks whether they are best explained by design or by chance. The evidence presented in our DNA series is our starting point.

Does intelligent design accept evolution?

It accepts variation and change within kinds (micro-evolution). It questions whether the evidence supports the transformation of one kind into another. See Bye Bye Darwin and design vs. evolution.

About origins and the earth

How old is the earth?

Views among contributors vary. We host a thoughtful discussion in Ages of the Earth.

What is the core question about DNA?

DNA stores specified, functional information that cells use to build life. The question is whether such information can arise without an intelligent source. Explore function, specificity and complexity.
